NIACE is a non-governmental organisation working for more and different adult learners

NIACE Membership.

NIACE membership has two main categories: Corporate (for organisations of all kinds, including universities, colleges, open college networks and research organisations) and Individual (for teachers, support workers or others involved or interested in the adult learning agenda). There are currently 220 Individual Members, 37 Honorary Life Members and 520 Corporate Members of NIACE, of which 56 are based in Wales.

We treat all Local Education Authorities in England and Wales as full corporate members, but we do not charge them a fee. We view our grant as a more than sufficient reason for them being entitled to all our services.

Members based in Wales automatically become members of NIACE Dysgu Cymru, receiving information on Welsh policy and practice, campaigns, conferences and events.

A raft of new benefits were introduced to the members' package in June 2004. As a member of NIACE you will receive...

Corporate members at 50% rate (up to 10 delegates )
Corporate members at 25% rate (up to 5 delegates)
Individual members one place (for that named member only)

  • Discounts on conferences
Members, including all employees of a corporate member organisation, are entitled to a significant discount on national conference events (please see booking forms for full details).
  • Free subscription to Adults Learning
NIACE’s journal is published 10 times per year. The journal is full of articles on topical issues, news, information and the most up to date policy developments. Corporate members who pay the full fee can receive up to 5 copies, and those who pay the 50% rate can receive up to 2 copies.
  • Free edition of the Adult Learning Yearbook
This reference directory is published annually and contains over 3,000 key contacts in every area of adult education. Corporate members who pay the full fee can receive up to 5 copies, and those who pay the 50% rate can receive up to 2 copies.
  • Up to date information via a monthly members’ e-newsletter.
Receive details each month of the latest NIACE publications, conferences, and individual teams’ work. Members have the opportunity to express interest in particular areas or on certain issues and can have a more active role in the Institute by joining internal working groups and panels.
  • Free Web Link. All corporate members can have a free link to their website from NIACE's website. Corporate members based in Wales also have a link from the NIACE Dysgu Cymru site
  • Access to NIACE’s specialised library. The library stock comprises over 12,000 items relating to adult education. Information staff provide a personal enquiry service for members by telephone, email or letter.
  • Members benefit from the solidarity and support gained from being part of a large national organisation, which can prevent smaller organisations or individuals from being marginalised.
  • A Membership Officer will be on hand as your key contact at NIACE to deal with any questions, suggestions or requests from members.
  • As a member based in Wales, in addition to the NIACE benefits package you will receive up to date information from NIACE Dysgu Cymru in the form of email notices highlighting news on Welsh policy and practice.  You will also be kept informed of Welsh conferences, events and campaigns.
